(69228) Cameroon Mountain is an asteroid of the main inner belt . It was discovered on October 16, 1977 by the Dutch astronomers Cornelis Johannes van Houten , Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld and Tom Gehrels as part of the Palomar-Leiden survey .

The asteroid was named on July 22, 2013 after the Cameroon Mountain , an active volcano in western Cameroon near the Gulf of Guinea .
