Career

society

Domínguez played for two years in Real Madrid's youth team from 1999 to 2001 . After going through the various youth departments of Atlético Madrid , he made his debut in the starting eleven on October 22, 2008 in the Champions League group game against Liverpool (1-1). He made his league debut on the following match day at 4: 4 in the game against Villarreal . Domínguez completed two more league appearances for Atlético this season, but was mainly used in the second team. On November 16, 2009, he signed a professional contract with Atlético that ran until 2013. He was a regular player in the 2009/10 season. With the club he won the Europa League in the 2009/10 season and the 2011/12 season .

In the summer break of 2012, Borussia Mönchengladbach signed Domínguez with a contract term until June 2017 as the successor to Dante, who had switched to Bayern Munich . He made his Bundesliga debut on September 1, 2012 (2nd matchday) in a 0-0 away game at Fortuna Düsseldorf . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on September 26, 2012 (5th matchday) in the 90th minute and secured Borussia 2-2 in the home game against Hamburger SV .

On December 6, 2016, at the age of 27, he ended his career as a sports disabled person due to persistent back problems . After his resignation, he raised serious allegations against Borussia Mönchengladbach: The medical department had treated him incorrectly and the sports management pushed for games despite his complaints. Sports director Max Eberl contradicted the allegations.

National team

In 2009 he took part in the U-20 World Cup with the Spanish selection . He was used in the last group game against Venezuela (3-0). With the U-21 national team, he became European champion in 2011 .

On May 26, 2012, he played his first A international match for Spain against the selection of Serbia . For the European Championships 2012 in Poland and Ukraine , national coach Vicente del Bosque appointed him to the preliminary, but not to the final EM squad. Because of his age, however, he was nominated for the 2012 Olympic Games in London , in which the Spanish selection was eliminated without scoring as the bottom of the group.
