The 1999/2000 season was the 78th season of the Elite Ligue , the highest French ice hockey division . The Hockey Club de Reims became champions for the first time in the club's history .

In the main round, the nine teams played 32 games each. The eight best-placed teams qualified for the playoffs in which the champions were played out. For a win after regular playing time and overtime, each team received two points, for a draw and a defeat after overtime there was one point and for a defeat after regular time zero points.
