Étienne Didot (born July 24, 1983 in Paimpol , Côtes-d'Armor ) is a French football player who is under contract with the first division club EA Guingamp . He is the younger brother of Sylvain Didot , also a soccer player and today's coach.
Club career
Étienne Didot began his career in 2001 at the first division club Stade Rennes . On January 8, 2002, he made his debut at home against Le Havre AC . In seven years, the midfielder completed over 150 league games for the red-blacks. Rennes finished fourth in the 2004/05 season and qualified for the 2005/06 UEFA Cup . There they failed without a win or point in the group stage. After Olivier Monterrubio moved to RC Lens in January 2007, Didot became team captain of Stade Rennes. In 2007 , his club qualified again by fourth place in the table for the 2007/08 UEFA Cup . There they failed again in the group stage, this time with two points from four games. In the summer of 2008, he then moved for three million euros to league rivals FC Toulouse , who had barely escaped relegation in the previous season. In Didot's debut season, Toulouse reached fourth place in the league and the semi-finals in the Coupe de France 2008/09 . In the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League , however, he did not get beyond the group stage with his new club. In the following years, Toulouse played in the midfield of the league without achieving significant success. In Ligue 1 2014/15 Didot's team was in a relegation battle, so in March 2015 his long-time coach Alain Casanova was replaced by Dominique Arribagé . Didot played with the latter at Stade Rennes until 2004. After the rescue on a non-relegation place (17th), both went together in the following season 2015/16 . This went badly for Toulouse again and in February 2016, Pascal Dupraz, the next coach was hired. Like its predecessor, this also managed to save it to 17th place in the table. Didot then switched to EA Guingamp and thus also back to his homeland in Brittany. Guingamp finished the preseason from one place before Toulouse, in the following years one was tenth and twelfth in the league.
National team
Didot played a total of 16 games for the French U-21 national team .
