Özlem Tekin

Özlem Tekin (born November 18, 1971 in California ) is an artist of Turkish rock music .

Özlem's father, Talat Tekin, was a professor at the University of California, Berkeley . After Özlem was born, the family returned to Ankara . In primary school, Özlem was taught in French at the Tevfik Fikret Lisesi . During this time she took piano lessons. She later enrolled at the Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory and studied the musical instrument clarinet . During her studies, Özlem performed on various stages in Ankara. During her summer lecture-free time, she performed in Bodrum and interpreted various styles of music, such as English-language pop , rock, heavy metal , punk and jazz . In 1992 Özlem finished her studies.

Beginnings

Due to an offer from the Lokomotif music group , Özlem moved to İstanbul . A short time later she separated from Lokomotif and joined the girl rock band Volvox , which Şebnem Ferah co-founded , where she stayed for two years and worked as a singer and keyboard player. During this time Özlem learned to play acoustic guitar and composed her own songs on it.

Career

In 1996 Özlem released her first album Kime Ne and received good reviews. Through socially critical songs such as the forced marriage thematizing Duvaksız Gelin ( The Bride Without veil ) or by street children acting Herkes Şanslı Doğmuyor ( Not Everyone Is Born With luck ), it became popular in Turkey. After their second album with harder rock, released in 1998, was less successful, their third album Laubali was released in 1999 as a softer rock and pop album.

After this time it was quiet about Özlem Tekin. She stayed for a long time in the USA , where she took a course in sculpture , among other things . With the words to have written all the songs within a week, Özlem released her fourth album Tek Başıma ( All Alone ) in 2002 . After this album she tried to distance herself from the music and announced that she did not want to release another album and would spend the rest of her life abroad. In 2005, however, their heaviest album 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0 was released and with the change in their musical direction, their crisis seems to be over for the time being.

In October 2006, the film Hokkabaz was released in cinemas. Here she shines as the "mysterious bride" at the side of Cem Yilmaz , who plays the leading role, and Mazhar Alanson (one of the singers of MFÖ ), who plays Yilmaz's crazy father.

Since 2008 she can be seen as the presenter of the TV show "Hiperaktif" on Kral TV .

In the published in January 2008 album Sonsuz the group Badem Özlem Tekin sings a duet the song Kalpsiz . In 2009 she sang the duet Dost Kalamam with Mişa .

In 2010 her album Bana Bi'şey Olmaz was released .

Özlem Tekin sings the duet Dayanamam on the 2013 album Akustik 2012 by Ogün Sanlısoy .

Others

On August 8th, 2008 she married Cem Öcal, the background singer of Kenan Doğulu .
