The Štítnik is a 32.4 km long river in Slovakia and a left tributary of the Slaná .

The river source is located on the southwest slope of the Stolica in the Stolické vrchy , at an altitude of about 1240  m nm and the river first passes through dense forests in a south-easterly direction before leaving the forests at Čierna Lehota . In the further course the Štítnik flows through Slavošovce , Rochovce , Ochtiná , before it takes up the left bank Hankovský potok between Roštár and Štítnik . The river then flows largely south through Štítnik, Kunova Teplica and Pašková , where it separates the two plateaus in the Slovak Karst , the Plešivská planina and Koniarska planina .

The confluence with the Slaná is north of Plešivec .
