Slavošovce (until 1927 in Slovak also "Veľká Slaboška"; German Großslawdorf , Hungarian Nagyszabos - until 1902 Nagyszlabos ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia with 1873 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Rožňava , part of the Košický kraj and is attributed to the traditional landscape of Gemer .

The community is located at the foot of the Spiš-Gemer Karst , in the upper valley of the Štítnik . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 425  m nm and is about 26 km away from Rožňava .

history

The place was first mentioned in writing as Szederjes in 1318 .

The paper mill in town was founded in 1817. The regional railway line Plešivec – Slavošovce ends in the municipality.
