Henckovce (German Hen [t] zendorf , Hungarian Henckó ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 420 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Rožňava of, part kraj Košický heard.

The municipality is located in the southeastern part of the Slovak Ore Mountains on the upper reaches of the Slaná . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 346  m nm and is 12 kilometers from Rožňava and 14 kilometers from Dobšiná .

Neighboring municipalities are Gemerská Poloma in the northeast and east, Rožňavské Bystré and Honce in the south and Nižná Slaná in the west and northwest.

history

All Saints Church

Henckovce was first mentioned in writing as Henczko in 1470 and was established under Wallachian law. There was also a mining town in the late Middle Ages called Hermanovce , which was built in the 13th century and merged with Henckovce at the end of the 15th century. The place was initially owned by the Bebek family , then the Krásna Hôrka castle . In 1828 there were 53 houses and 409 residents who were employed as carters, shepherds, charcoal burners and shindlers, and in the 18th and 19th centuries they worked in local ironworks.

Until 1918/1919, the place in Gemer and Kleinhont counties belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 470 people lived in Henckovce, of which 397 were Slovaks , 43 Roma , two Magyars and one Czech . 27 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .

203 residents committed to the Evangelical Church AB, 66 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, three residents to the Greek Catholic Church and one resident each to the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Old Catholic Church, the Evangelical Methodist Church and the Reformed Church. 107 inhabitants had no denomination and the denomination of 87 inhabitants was not determined.
