Hrhov , Hungarian Tornagörgő (until 1927 Slovak Hrbov , Hungarian and 1907 Görgő ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with a population of 1,051 (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Rožňava of, a circle kraj Košický heard.
geography
The community is located in a small valley basin called Turnianska kotlina , between two foothills of the Slovak Karst , near the Hungarian border. South of the main road there are two lakes, which are designated as ponds and together are called Hrhovské rybníky , between these and the Hungarian border flows the Turňa . The center of the village is at an altitude of 216 m nm and is 22 kilometers from Rožňava and 47 kilometers from Košice .
Neighboring municipalities are Lúčka and Bôrka in the north, Dvorníky-Včeláre in the east, Tornanádaska , Komjáti and Bódvaszilas (all in Hungary) in the south, Jablonov nad Turňou in the west and Kováčová in the north-west.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1263 as Gurgeu . From 1386 to 1567 the powerful regional Bebek family owned the place through the estate of the Szádvár Castle . In 1427 the village had a total of 48 portals . In 1828 there were 187 houses and 1414 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture, fruit growing, viticulture and shepherds.
Until 1918/1919, the place in Abaúj-Torna County (previously Torna County ) belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. From 1938 to 1945 he was once again part of Hungary on the basis of the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, 1137 inhabitants lived in Hrhov, including 939 Magyars, 156 Slovaks and one German, one Czech and one Ukrainian. 39 residents gave no answer. 516 residents committed to the Reformed Church, 515 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, eight residents to the Evangelical Church AB, six residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses, four residents to the Greek Catholic Church, three residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church and two residents to the Orthodox Church Church; two residents professed a different denomination. 36 inhabitants had no denomination and the denomination of 45 inhabitants was not determined.
Buildings
- Roman Catholic St. John the Baptist Church, originally built around the middle of the 13th century as a Gothic church, expanded around 1500, fortified in the 17th century (Turkish wars, uprisings), designed in a classicist style in 1815 and finally the tower added in 1846
- Reformed church in classical style from 1785, renovated in 1846
