The Okres Rožňava is an administrative unit in eastern Slovakia with 61,902 inhabitants (2004, 2001 there were 61,887, of which 38,967 (63.0%) Slovak, 18,954 (30.6%) Hungarian) and an area of 1,173 square kilometers.
Historically, the largest part of the district belonged to the former Gemer and Kleinhont county , a small part in the southeast with the municipalities Silická Jablonica , Hrušov , Jablonov nad Turňou and Hrhov belonged to the former Abaúj-Torna county (see also the list of historical counties of Hungary ).
