Dlhá Ves (until 1948 Slovak "Hosúsovo"; Hungarian Gömörhosszúszó - until 1907 Hosszúszó ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 534 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Rožňava of, part kraj Košický heard.

geography

The municipality is located on the southwestern edge of the karst plateau Silická planina in the Dlhoveská dolina valley and at the same time on the southern border of the Slovak Karst National Park , not far from the border with Hungary . The center of the village is at an altitude of 330  m nm and 22 kilometers from Rožňava .

Neighboring municipalities are Ardovo in the north, Kečovo in the east, Tornaľa in the south, Čoltovo in the west and Bohúňovo in the north-west.

history

In today's municipality there were cave settlements in the Neolithic and a settlement of the Piliny culture in the late Bronze Age .

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1332 as Horuati and was the location of a toll station on the way to Torna (today Turňa nad Bodvou). The Kacsics and Bejei families owned estates in the village until the middle of the 16th century . Further development was slowed down by Turkish attacks, which led to the abandonment of the village in 1660. It was not until the 18th century that the village was repopulated by settlers from the Muráň area. In 1828 there were 67 houses and 464 inhabitants, whose main source of income was agriculture.

Until 1918/19, the place in Gemer and Kleinhont counties belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. From 1938 to 1945 he was once again part of Hungary on the basis of the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, Dlhá Ves had 586 inhabitants, including 465 Magyars , 102 Slovaks and one Czech . 18 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity.

294 residents committed themselves to the Evangelical Church AB, 82 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, 54 residents to the Reformed Church, 23 residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church and two residents each to the Jehovah's Witnesses and two to the Greek Catholic Church. 79 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 50 residents was not determined.
