Kunova Teplica , Hungarian Kuntapolca (until 1927 Slovak "Kunová Teplica"; German Teplitz , Hungarian and 1907 Kúntaplóca ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 717 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Rožňava , a circle of Košický kraj , heard.

geography

The municipality is located in the western part of the Slovak Karst between its two high plateaus Plešivská planina and Koniar , in the valley of the river Štítnik . In the east of the municipality, steep, wooded slopes of the Plešivská planina rise above the place. The center of the village is at an altitude of 250  m nm and is 19 kilometers from Rožňava .

Neighboring municipalities are Štítnik in the north, Slanec in the east, Pašková in the south and Rozložná in the west.

history

Kunova Teplica was first mentioned in writing in 1243 as Toplucha and, like other places called Teplica or Teplice , derives its name from the local hot springs; the name addition Kunova (after the personal name Kun ) was added later. The village was owned by the Ákos family and later by the Bebek family in the Pleissnitz domain . In 1427, according to a tax register, Kunova Teplica had 24 portals . In 1551 a judge and 13 subjects lived in the village. In the second half of the 16th century the village belonged to the Sandschak Fileck in the Ottoman Empire. After a devastating plague epidemic from 1709-10, only seven residents remained in the village. In 1828 there were 54 houses and 694 inhabitants who were employed as carters, charcoal burners and workers in the iron hammer. In the 19th century an ironworks called Concordia was built with a foundry, which still exists today with a few interruptions and name changes.

Until 1918/1919, the place in Gemer and Kleinhont counties belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. From 1938 to 1945 he was once again part of Hungary on the basis of the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, 655 people lived in Kunova Teplica, including 322 Slovaks , 199 Magyars , six Czechs , two Roma and one Ukrainian . 125 inhabitants did not give any information about the ethnicity .

107 residents committed to the Evangelical Church AB, 55 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, 42 residents to the Reformed Church, 23 residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church, 20 residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses, two residents to the Greek Catholic Church and one resident to the Mormon. 162 inhabitants had no denomination and the denomination was not determined for 243 inhabitants.

traffic

The 2nd order road 587 runs through Kunova Teplica between Henckovce and the state border with Hungary near Kečovo . There is a connection to the supraregional network in Plešivec at the intersection with 1st order road 16 (E 58).

The place has a train station on the Plešivec – Slavošovce railway line , but since 2003 without passenger traffic. Since then there have only been regional bus routes to Kunova Teplica.
