Željko Vuković (born February 9, 1962 in Dvor ) is a former Austrian - Croatian soccer player and now coach .
Career as a player
society
Vuković played for Dinamo Zagreb until 1988 . Between 1988 and 1990 he worked for Dinamo Vinkovci . In the 1990/91 season he played for NK Osijek . For the 1991/92 season he moved to the Austrian first division club SK Vorwärts Steyr . In July 1991 he made his debut for the Upper Austrians in the 1st division when he was in the starting line-up on the first day of that season against SK Rapid Vienna . He scored his first two goals for Steyr in August 1991 in a 4-1 win against FC Admira / Wacker . With Steyr he reached the “Upper Playoff” in his first season and finished seventh there.
After 136 games for Steyr in the top Austrian division, in which he was able to score twelve goals, Vuković moved to the newly promoted Grazer AK in the summer of 1995 . In his four years in Styria, he played 138 Bundesliga games for Graz , in which he scored ten goals.
For the 1999/2000 season he moved to the second division club FC Kärnten . With the club, he rose to the Bundesliga in 2001. In the promotion season 2000/01 he completed 31 games in the second division , in which he remained without a hit. He also won the ÖFB Cup with Carinthia that season . After the 2001/02 season he ended his professional career.
Between 2003 and 2004 he played for the lower-class clubs SV St. Johann im Saggautal and SV Gralla . He also worked as a trainer now and then at Unterpremstätten and Frauental himself.
National team
Vuković completed a game for the Croatian national team against Slovenia in June 1991 .
In October 2001 he played for the Austrian national team for the first time in a World Cup qualifier against Israel at the age of 39 . Overall, Vuković completed three international matches for Austria.
Career as a coach
In the 2004/05 season Vuković coached the regional division SK St. Andrä . In 2008 he became the trainer of SC Unterpremstätten . Unterpremstätten separated from him in December 2015.
In March 2016 he became the coach of SV Frauental . With Frauental, he was promoted to the fourth-class national league in 2018 .

Vuković, born in today's Croatia, received Austrian citizenship in 1995 .
