The Ƹ ( lower case ƹ ) is a letter of the Latin writing system . While it often looks like a mirrored Ʒ , and Unicode also calls the character reversed Ezh (mirrored Ezh), the character is based on the Arabic letter ʿain . It is a phonetic character that the voiced pharyngeal fricative characterizes today sign IPA is for this sound, the [⁠ ʕ ⁠] used. The sign is also included in the Africa alphabet .
