The letter Ȥ ( lower case ȥ ) is a letter of the Latin writing system , consisting of a Z with a hook. Since version 3.0 (1999) Unicode contains the letter pair Ȥ / ȥ as U + 0224 latin capital letter with hook and U + 0225 latin small letter with hook . This letter is in some Middle High German used dictionaries, textbooks and text output for playback of the letter "z" from the original manuscripts when it According to a fricative [⁠ s ⁠] referred, while there "z" the unchanged when it as in New High German denotes the affricate t͡s . Accordingly, the character definition in the Unicode standard is marked with the comment “Middle High German”.

The letter should not be confused with the similar Ⱬ / ⱬ , which has an appendix similar to the Cyrillic Ц and was used in the Uighur language before 1983 to transliterate the Persian ژ .
