's-Gravendeel ( municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland . The community extended over an area of 20.69 square kilometers. On January 1, 2007, it was merged with the municipality of Binnenmaas (since 2019 part of the municipality of Hoeksche Waard ). Today the place has 8,925 inhabitants.
) is a place and a former's-Gravendeel is located in the east of Hoeksche Waard on Dordtse Kil and is on the Kiltunnel with the city of Dordrecht connected. The village was founded in 1593 in the eastern corner of the just then newly reclaimed polder Nieuw-Bonaventura founded. Today the villages De Wacht and Schenkeldijk still belong to the municipality.
The inhabitants of 's-Gravendeel are often disparagingly referred to as Seuter, i.e. potatoes baked in lard .
religion
There are five churches in the parish of 's-Gravendeel, of which the building of the Dutch Reformed Church stands out . It stands right in the center of the village and is half surrounded by a small moat filled with water . The place where this church stands is often referred to as De Heul . This Reformed congregation belongs to the Protestant Church of the Netherlands , as does that of the Reformed Church of Encounter on the Leinenacker . You can also find church buildings of the Christian Reformed Church , the Reformed Congregation in the Netherlands and the Old Reformed Congregation .
education
In 's-Gravendeel there are two public primary schools, a Protestant-Christian school and a school for immigrants and asylum seekers . The latter is called Het Mozaïek .
Industry and retail
Most of the retail stores are in the village center around the church. There are, among other things, two supermarkets and a larger fashion store.
The industrial area of 's-Gravendeel, Mijlpolder is in the north of the village. The car manufacturer Vandenbrink had production facilities here until the beginning of 2004 .
Scheepssloperij Nederland BV operates a demolition yard in the port of 's-Gravendeel .
The mechanical engineering company Viscon Group is based in 's-Gravendeel.
traffic
's-Gravendeel is on the N217 , which runs east through the Kiltunnel and finally meets the A16 and the N3 , the bypass of Dordrecht. In the northwest, the N217 connects to the A29 and the north of the Hoekschen Waard .
The town is served by the Arriva bus routes 165, 166, 176, 266, 268, 668 and 864.
