The ( lower case ɫ) is a letter of the Latin writing system . It consists of an L crossed out by a tilde .

The letter is used in Kobon for an extremely rare alveolopalatal lateral that cannot be represented in IPA. The lowercase letter ɫ, on the other hand, is used in the international phonetic alphabet for a velarized voiced lateral alveolar approximant .
