(12526) de Coninck is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 25 April 1998 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory of the European Southern Observatory ( IAU code 809) in Chile was discovered. The asteroid had already been sighted in July 1991 under the provisional name 1991 NK9 at the same observatory.
(12526) de Coninck was named on September 28, 2004 after the Flemish poet and critic Herman de Coninck (1944-1997).
