(1771) Makover is an asteroid of the main outer belt discovered on January 24, 1968 by the Soviet astronomer Lyudmila Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory .
designation
The asteroid was named after the Soviet scientist Samuil Makower (1908-1970) from the Leningrad Institute for Theoretical Astronomy . Makower explored the orbit of Encke's comet and was a pioneer in the use of electronic computers to more accurately determine orbits.
