(17855) Geffert is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on May 19, 1998 at the Starkenburg observatory ( IAU code 611) near Heppenheim an der Bergstrasse in southern Hesse .
The asteroid was named after the German amateur astronomer Martin Geffert (* 1922), who is closely connected as a co-founder of the Starkenburg observatory.
