(190617) Alexandergerst is an asteroid of the middle main belt , which was discovered on November 19, 2000 by the German amateur astronomer Jens Kandler at the Saxon public observatory in Drebach ( IAU code 113).
The asteroid is part of the Astraea family, a group of asteroids named after (5) Astraea . The asteroid's orbit around the Sun has a high eccentricity of 0.2933 .
(190617) Alexandergerst was named on March 5, 2015 after the astronaut and geophysicist Alexander Gerst .
