(2150) Nyctimene ( 1977 TA ; 1969 TM 4 ) is a main inner belt asteroid discovered by William Lawrence Sebok at the Palomar Observatory on October 13, 1977 .

designation

Nyctimene , after whom the asteroid was named, was the daughter of Epopeus , king of Lesbos , in Greek mythology . She was raped and persecuted by her father, so she hid in the forest. Athena , after whom the asteroid (881) Athena was named, turned her into an owl for protection.
