(2270) Yazhi ( 1980 ED ; 1952 DM 1 ; 1958 FD ; 1970 LF ; 1971 TF 2 ; 1976 QH ; 1976 SE ; 1977 SV 1 ; 1977 UD 1 ) is an asteroid of the outer main girdle , dated March 14, 1980 from American astronomer Edward LG Bowell was discovered at the Anderson Mesa Station of the Lowell Observatory in Coconino County , Arizona ( IAU code 688). It belongs to the Themis family, a group of asteroids named after (24) Themis .
designation
(2270) Yazhi was named after the word "small" in Navajo , the language of the Navajo (belonging to the Na-Dené languages ). The naming was suggested by Debbie Geoffrion .
