(24101) Cassini is an asteroid of the main belt , the American US on November 9, 1999 by amateur astronomer Charles W. Juel at Fountain Hills Observatory ( observatory code 678) in Fountain Hills in the state of Arizona was discovered.
The asteroid was named on September 21, 2002 after the French astronomer and mathematician of Italian origin Giovanni Domenico Cassini (1625-1712).
