(283142) Weena is an asteroid of the main middle belt located between Mars and Jupiter .
It was discovered on December 29, 2008 by the German amateur astronomers Rainer Kling and Erwin Schwab from the Hans-Ludwig-Neumann-Observatory ( IAU-Code B01) from the Kleiner Feldberg im Taunus .
Weena belongs to the Hansa family , whose namesake (480) is Hansa .
The asteroid was named on December 17, 2013 after the character "Weena" from the novel The Time Machine by HG Wells , who was played in the 1960 film adaptation by Yvette Mimieux .
