(3002) Dela Salle is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 20 March 1982 by the Belgian astronomer Henri DEBEHOGNE at La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the French priest , educator and order founder Johannes Baptist de La Salle (1651-1719), who in 1684 founded the Order of Brothers of Christian Schools ( Frères des Écoles chrétiennes ). As a new feature, he introduced classes in school classes and in French instead of Latin.
