(30778) Döblin is an asteroid of the inner main belt that was discovered by the German astronomer Freimut Börngen on September 29, 1987 at the Thuringian State Observatory in Tautenburg ( IAU code 033).
The orbit of the asteroid was secured in 2001 so that numbering could be assigned. (30778) Döblin was named on April 27, 2002 at the suggestion of Freimut Börngen after the doctor and writer Alfred Döblin (1878–1957). His novels Berlin Alexanderplatz (1929) and Babylonische Wandrung (1934) were particularly emphasized in the dedication .
