(3544) Borodino is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on September 7, 1977 by the Russian astronomer Nikolai Stepanowitsch Tschernych at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).
The asteroid was named after the Russian site Borodino near Moscow , where the Battle of Borodino between the French Grande Armée led by Napoleon and the Russian army under General Kutuzov took place on September 7, 1812 .
