(5029) Ireland is an asteroid of the main belt , which from the January 24, 1988 American US astronomer Carolyn Shoemaker and Eugene Shoemaker at Palomar Observatory ( IAU code 675) in California was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the western European island of Ireland in 1995 to celebrate a year of anniversaries.
