(6886) Grote is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 11 February 1942 by the Finnish astronomer liisi oterma at Iso-Heikkilä Observatory ( IAU code of 062) University of Turku was discovered.
The celestial body belongs to the Innes family, an asteroid family named after (1658) Innes .
The name of the asteroid was chosen on December 24, 1964 in honor of the American radio astronomer Grote Reber (1911–2002), one of the pioneers in his specialty.
