(9533) Aleksejleonov is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on September 28, 1981 by the Ukrainian - Soviet astronomer Lyudmyla Shuravlowa at the Crimean Observatory in Nautschnyj ( IAU code 095).
The celestial body was named on July 5, 2001 after the Russian cosmonaut Alexei Archipowitsch Leonow (1934–2019), who was the first person to leave his spaceship and float in space secured with a rope .
The asteroid is part of the Astraea family, a group of asteroids named after (5) Astraea .
