Cryofluoran is a chemical compound from the group of chlorofluorocarbons (CFC), which was mainly used as a refrigerant and as a propellant for spray cans . Under pressure or when cooled, the gas is a colorless liquid. It is on the list of climate-damaging gases of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change .
use
In addition to being a refrigerant, Cryofluoran was used as a foaming agent for fire extinguishers and foams and as a solvent and cleaning agent in the electronics industry. Another area of application is the isolation of highly stressed probe heads in measurement technology .
safety instructions
As with all CFCs, the decomposition (through intense heat) of Cryofluoran forms corrosive and toxic substances ( hydrochloric acid , hydrofluoric acid ).
