1-Decene is a chemical compound from the group of unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbons .

Occurrence

1-decene is found in cigarette smoke .

Extraction and presentation

1-decene can be prepared by oligomerization of ethylene by Natta process Ziegler , or produced by cracking of petrochemical waxes.

properties

1-decene is a slightly volatile, colorless liquid with a characteristic odor, which is practically insoluble in water. It forms oligomers .

use

1-Decene is used as a comonomer and as an intermediate in the production of a number of other compounds. The hydrogenated poly-1-decene ( E 907) synthesized from the compound is approved as a coating agent for sugar confectionery and dried fruits.

safety instructions

The vapors of 1-decene can form an explosive mixture with air ( flash point 44 ° C, ignition temperature 235 ° C).
