history

Hammer SpVg has played in the HSV arena on Ostenallee since 1914. In 1963 the city of Hamm planned a road expansion and needed the arena for this. However, the construction project was never realized. As compensation, the club received an area about 400 meters north of their old domicile near the Jahn Stadium. The stadium, various side courts , a tennis facility and a clubhouse were built on 48,000 square meters . To differentiate it from the old stadium, the new stadium was named HSV-Anlage . Four years later, the name was changed to Mahlberg Stadium . With the renaming, the club wanted to pay tribute to the services of the club's chairman at the time, Hans-Otto Mahlberg, in the construction of the new stadium.

The stadium finally opened in 1965. A year later, Hammer SpVg rose to the then second-class Regionalliga West . The club welcomed around 12,000 spectators each at the home games against Alemannia Aachen , Preußen Münster and Schwarz-Weiß Essen . However, the club set the club record of 18,000 spectators in the game against Arminia Bielefeld in the Jahnstadion. After the direct relegation, the hammer reached the semifinals of the German Amateur Championship in 1968 , where 10,000 spectators saw a 3-0 defeat against FC Wacker Munich . In 1971 and 1974 the club had to sell its stadium to the city of Hamm in two steps after the club was in debt with around 500,000 marks .

On February 17th, 2008 the Mahlberg Stadium was renamed the EVORA Arena. It is named after a company from Großwallstadt that is active in the field of cosmetics and wellness . At the end of 2009, construction began on a new main stand on the west side of the stadium with 932 covered seats. The city and the association split the construction costs of 1.2 million euros . An expansion of the stadium has been discussed since 2006. There are plans for a 11,251-seat, third-division stadium and have been accepted by the DFB . In July 2018, 24nexx International GmbH acquired the naming rights and renamed the stadium the 24nexx Arena .

Events

The main users of the stadium are the footballers of Hammer SpVg, who have been playing in the fifth-class Oberliga Westfalen since the reintroduction in 2012 . The Football and Athletics Association Westphalia had playoffs for promotion to the Oberliga Westfalen held twice in the Hammer Stadium. For this, the stadium was rebuilt by the city of Hamm for a six-figure sum. B. to enable the fans of the home and visiting teams to be separated. Without this conversion, Westfalia Rhynern would have been refused the license for the regional league. The premiere took place on August 19, 2017 in front of 1,431 spectators against Borussia Dortmund II . The game ended 3: 4 for Dortmund.
