2 is the second studio album by the rock band Black Country Communion , released in 2011 .
Emergence
Even before the release of their self-named debut album in September 2010, the band members had started to write songs for their second album. As a producer again served Kevin Shirley . The album was released on June 10, 2011 in Germany and contains eleven tracks. The group published the song The Outsider in advance as a downloadable version on their website. On May 7, 2011, the single Man in the Middle and an accompanying video clip were released.
The tracks were not recorded track by track, as is usually the case today, but recorded by the whole group in the studio. The drums for this album were set up in a large room and recorded without any technical measures ( samples ). Producer Shirley wanted to achieve a " Bonham sound", a sound that is closely based on Led Zeppelin .

The album was able to establish itself in the British album charts just two weeks after its release ; in the "UK Top 40 Rock Album" charts it reached number 1 straight away. Rocks wrote:
" Highlights? The LP is full of it. The basic ›Cold‹, for example, swells to the counterpart of the overdream ›Songs of Yesterday‹ from the debut. ›Smokestack Woman‹ unites organ rolls with a more nimble zeppelin groove and ›The Battle for Hadrian's Wall‹ with the folk side of Plant, Page & Co. ›2‹ sets standards in modern classic rock: thoroughly furious. "
Rocks - Classic Rock magazine chose 2 in its list of "Albums of the Year 2011".
