- Psammetich III. becomes Pharaoh of Egypt as the successor of his father Amasis . He is the last pharaoh (king) of the 26th Dynasty (Saïten Dynasty).
- For his forthcoming campaign against Egypt , Cambyses II , great king of the Persian Achaemenid Empire , concludes an alliance with Polycrates of Samos . He also developed Acre into an economic and military center.
