- The New Babylonian King Amēl-Marduk is assassinated in his second year of reign. He is followed by his brother-in-law Nergal-šarra-uṣur (year of accession ). His first order as heir to the throne was dated August 4th .
- The Greek politician Peisistratos storms the Acropolis with a crowd of armed supporters and lets himself be proclaimed a tyrant. A little later he was overthrown by Lycurgus and Megacles .
- 565/560 BC Chr .: Arkesilaos II. Succeeds his father Battos II. King of Cyrene .
