AB Sanitas  is one of the oldest and largest Lithuanian pharmaceutical companies . The company currently produces and sells unpatented drugs - injectables, tablets, capsules, eye drops.

history

The company "Sanitas" was founded in 1922 and registered as a joint-stock company "Sanitas" in the Republic of Lithuania in 1994. In the same year, its shares were listed on the National Stock Exchange. Since August 19, 2011, the control package of the shares (99.4 percent) of the company AB “Sanitas” (AG) belongs to the company “Valeant Pharmaceuticals International”. Saulius Mečislovas Žemaitis acts as the company's general manager. The company currently has around 110 employees.

  • In 1922, AB "Sanitas" (AG) founded a pharmaceutical laboratory for the manufacture of cosmetic products in Kaunas .
  • In 1994 the company "Sanitas" was privatized and its shares were listed on the National Stock Exchange.
  • In May 2004, "Sanitas" acquired the Lithuanian drug manufacturer - AB "Endokrininiai preparatai".
  • On November 21, 2005, the shares of AB “Sanitas” were listed on a public listing on the “ NASDAQ OMX Vilniusstock exchange.
  • In 2006 "Sanitas" acquired the Polish company "Jelfa", which was integrated into the "Sanitas" group. The range has thus been supplemented by more than a hundred new products.
  • In 2005 subsidiaries were founded in Hungary and Bulgaria, and in 2007 in the Czech Republic and Slovakia .
  • In 2006, under the European Union's Structural Funds program, construction began on a new plant in Kaunas, which opened in September 2008.
  • In December 2008, “Sanitas” acquired “Homeofarm”, a company registered in Poland.
  • In August 2011, the Canadian company "Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc." acquired the control package for the shares (99.4 percent) of the "Sanitas" group.

The production capacities of "Sanitas" enable the manufacture of different dosage forms - tablets, capsules, ampoules, eye drops and filled disposable syringes. Production takes place in accordance with the EU GMP guidelines for human and veterinary medicinal products .

"Sanitas" produces around 50 different products. The list of medicines sold in Lithuania consists of: "Neocitramonas", "Paracetamolis Sanitas", "Neoaskofenas", "Ranitidinas Sanitas", "Panogastin", "Latalux", "Ecriten", "Eufilinas Sanitas", "Askorbo rūgštis Sanitas" (Ascorbic acid), "Analginas Sanitas", "Ketolgan", "Alkostop" and other prescription and non-prescription drugs.

The whole production of the "Sanitas" group is divided into the following therapeutic areas:

  • Dermatology (skin diseases, promoting the care of healthy skin, including dermacosmetics);
  • Medicines for hospitals (injectables for acute diseases);
  • Digestive system medicines;
  • Ophthalmology (eye care and good eyesight);
  • Urology (prostate and age-related diseases);
  • Nonprescription drugs (medicines for pain and inflammation);
  • Food supplements ( vitamins etc.).
