AB Grigeo Grigiškės is a paper manufacturer based in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius . The company's headquarters are in Grigiškės . It is listed on the Vilnius Stock Exchange.
history
The history of the factory began in 1823. The Kučkuriškės paper factory was later attached. In 1834 Viniusser Mayor Juozapas Opicas built a paper workshop on the banks of the Riešė in Popierinė . In 1855 Verkių popieriaus fabrikas was the most modern company in Lithuania and the largest papermaking company in western Russia . The Naujieji Verkiai paper mill was then connected to AB “Grigiškės”. In 1923, the mechanic, hydrotechnician and entrepreneur Grigas Kurecas began building the Grigiškės paper mill at the confluence of the Neris and Vokė rivers . The factory was built in 1925. It had 300 employees.
The factory was destroyed in the Second World War in 1944, re-established in 1945 and nationalized. It belonged as a combine ( Grigiškių popieriaus Kombatas ) of the Union Republic of Soviet Lithuania . In 1976 there were 2,250 employees. Then the combine became Valstybinė įmonė "Grigiškės". The state-owned company was privatized and from May 23, 1991 the company was named Akcinė bendrovė Grigiškės. In 2000 there were 1,038 employees.
