The 1939–40 season was the American Hockey Association (AHA) 's 14th regular season . Masters became the St. Paul Saints .
Team changes
The following changes were made before the start of the season:
- The Omaha Knights were added to the league as an expansion team.
mode
In the regular season, the seven teams played between 45 and 48 games. The four best-placed teams qualified for the playoffs. These were held in the best-of-five mode. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a defeat.
