history
Today's AS Gubbio 1910 association was founded in 1910 under the name Associazione Sportiva Gubbio (AS Gubbio for short). The club existed under this name until 1949, before it was renamed AS Gubbio in 1910 after a re-establishment due to a previous bankruptcy . The club colors were set to the red and blue colors that are still valid today in 1910. The club initially used a sports field in Gubbio as a venue and for many years did not have its own stadium. The Stadio Pietro Barbetti was built in 1977 and is still the home of AS Gubbio 1910 today.
After some time in the lower leagues of Italian football, mostly on a regional level, AS Gubbio made the leap to Serie B in 1946 , but this was probably also influenced by the disorderly circumstances in Italian football shortly after the end of the Second World War. In Serie B 1947/48 they finally finished 17th in Group C and after only one year had to relegate back to Serie C , where they soon got into financial problems and had to file for bankruptcy. It was not until 2011, 54 years after the last second division adventure, that AS Gubbio played again in Serie B in 1910. This promotion was made possible by first place in Lega Pro Prima Divisione (formerly Serie C) Girone A, with a gap of seven points ahead of second-placed Sorrento Calcio . Gubbio had managed a flawless march from the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione to Serie B within two years. The next season, however, Gubbio rose to Serie C. In the 2014/15 season, they slipped to an almost relegation zone on the last day of the match. In the duel for relegation against Savona FBC, they lost 2: 1 in the first leg and 1: 1 in the second leg. This sealed the relegation after three years of third-class status in a row. A year later, however, you could return to the third division and play there ever since.
