The Abrafaxe - Under Black Flag is a German animated film with the heroes of the mosaic , the Abrafaxes , in the lead role.

content

A magical golden bowl from the Aztec period discovered in the city museum brought the Abrafaxes Abrax, Brabax and Califax to the Caribbean in the 18th century .

Here they get to know the pretty pirate Anne Bonny - with whom Abrax falls in love - the fearsome Caribbean pirate Captain Blackbeard , as well as the vain and stupid Spanish fleet admiral Don Archibaldo and his smarter, talking parrot. The journey finally takes them to Tortuga , the pirate paradise ruled by Anne Bonny. Although Tortuga is an enclave of freedom, Tortuga is about to be discovered by the Spanish through the evil game of Blackbeard. The Abrafaxe are doing everything they can to prevent this. But somehow everything goes wrong and all of a sudden, Califax is gone. So there is still a lot to do for the three heroes - they have to come together, save Tortuga and return to their own time.

Remarks

The Abrafaxe - Under a Black Flag is the first movie with the characters of the East German cult comic Mosaik. Earlier attempts to film both the Digedags and the Abrafaxe for the screen or television always failed relatively early on.

In addition to a German version, an English language version has also been created for the international market. Internationally, the film achieved a fairly wide distribution, especially in Eastern Europe and Asia, the film was sold successfully.

The German Film and Media Evaluation FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the title valuable.
