The Abron is a river in France that runs in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Bourgogne-Franche-Comté regions. It rises northeast of Moulins , in the municipality of Lusigny , generally drains north to northwest and after 33 kilometers just west of Decize , near Avril-sur-Loire , reaches the Loire Valley . Originally it flowed here as a left tributary into the Acolin , just before its confluence with the Loire. Since the construction of the Canal latéral à la Loire (German: Loire Lateral Canal ), the water from the Abron to supply the canal has been diverted into an irrigation ditch and the amount of water controlled by weir systems . On its way, the Abron crosses the Allier and Nièvre departments .
