action

Eijun Sawamura ( 沢 村 栄 純 ) built a baseball team at his middle school because he is full of enthusiasm for the sport. But the team is not very good, most of his classmates only play for fun and for his sake. Eijun succeeds in motivating them again and again, even if they have no success in games against other schools. He dreams of taking them to the national championship. Since he mainly taught himself to play, his throws are very unusual. This is also noticed by a talent scout who brings him to Seidō High School in Tokyo, which is famous for its baseball team. Eijun initially doubts because he cannot leave his friends behind. But with their support he ultimately wants to become the Seidō's best player.

Once there, however, he has to realize that there are many good players next to him and the older ones are way ahead of him. In addition, his unreliability and temperament make him unpopular with the trainer. Nevertheless, he trains hard and doesn't want to let himself get down. The coach recognizes his as yet unpolished talent in a training match between the new students and the first team and finally lets him into the second team. In the same game, Satoru Furuya ( 降 谷 暁 ), also among the new players, shows his skills as a pitcher and joins the first team. This annoys Eijun and it encourages him. When Satoru then trains with Kazuya Miyuki ( 御 幸 一 也 ), a catcher whom Eijun also admires, but he is frustrated with the catcher of the second team, Chris. But even if he has problems with the closed Chris, he can finally learn a lot from his experience. Eijun can improve his throwing technique significantly and convinces in the last game of the 2nd team, so that he is accepted into the 1st team together with his friend, also talented and committed first grader Haruichi Kominato ( 小 湊 春 市 ).
