Achaz von der Schulenburg

Achaz von der Schulenburg (born October 9, 1669 in Apenburg ; † August 2 or 9, 1731 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general of the cavalry and governor of Satzig as well as heir, feudal lord and court lord of Beetzendorf ( Apenburger Hof ) and Apenburg. In the genealogy he is referred to as Achaz V von der Schulenburg .

Life

He came from the Altmark noble family von der Schulenburg and was the eldest son of Dietrich Hermann von der Schulenburg (* 1638; † 1693) and Amalie von der Schulenburg (* October 28, 1643; † January 3, 1713).

Achaz studied at the University of Frankfurt (Oder) and at the Rudolph-Antoniana Knight Academy in Wolfenbüttel . At the end of the 1680s he joined the Brandenburg military, where he was promoted to major general in 1719 and lieutenant general in 1728.

In 1717 he was commissioned to form a new regiment in Halberstadt , which later bore his name.

In 1730, Achaz von der Schulenburg sat before the court martial in the coat of arms hall of Schloss Köpenick , which had been charged with assessing the attempted desertion of the Crown Prince and later King of Prussia, Friedrich II .

He found his final resting place in the south-west cemetery Stahnsdorf in the Epiphanien block, field 1a.

family

He married Sophie Magdalena von Münchhausen from the Wendlinghausen family (born November 3, 1698, † January 30, 1763). The couple had the following nine children:
