Adalbert Heil (born November 1, 1907 in Recklinghausen ; † March 27, 1999 in Andernach ) was a German Catholic clergyman .

life and career

Adalbert Heil was the first of a total of eight children, his parents were the government architect Petrus and Maria Heil (née Grüter). He spent his childhood in Gelsenkirchen-Buer and Recklinghausen , in order to obtain the Abitur he attended high schools in Hamburg and Andernach as a teenager . In Trier he then studied philosophy and theology . He was ordained a priest on July 26, 1931 in the high cathedral in Trier . From 1932 to 1937 he worked as a chaplain in Völklingen , Waldbreitbach , Münstermaifeld and Bad Salzig . From March 1938 to June 1943 he took over the "Catholic pastoral service for the traveling church" of the diocese of Berlin at the Lindow (Mark) location . Just one month later, in April 1938, the diocese of Berlin appointed him "Landesseelsorger".

Remaclus Church Cochem

After King field in the Eifel it brought in 1943 a vacant pastorate, which he held for 11 years before another call for Cochem- Cond followed in March 1955th The new parish office included the parish administrations of St. Remaclus in Cond and St. Martin in the nearby Moselle town of Valwig and the associated chapel "Our Lady of the Mountains" on the Valwigerberg.

In May of the same year, Auxiliary Bishop Stein visited the Cond parish on the occasion of Confirmation . When asked about the subject of a possible new church building - the old church of St. Remaclus had become too small for the growing congregation - Bishop Stein informed him that he would take care of the necessary planning tasks. After Pastor Heil found a suitable plot of land in Cond near the bridgehead, the construction of the St. Remaclus Church, a sacristy and the associated rectory began in November 1964 . In 1965 the cornerstone was laid and on 12 May 1968, the new church by Bishop stone was consecrated . In addition to his work in his own parish office, he also looked after the parishes of St. Martin in Cochem and St. Maximinus in Klotten . At the age of 84 and a total of 60 years of ministerial service, he was retired in 1991. The highest city award, the Cochem coat of arms plate, was given to him at a ceremony on August 28, 1991 at Cochem Castle. In addition to his remarkable commitment to the new building of the church in Cond, Mayor Hoffmann particularly praised his work in the church community as well as in civil society Population. Heil spent his retirement with his sister's family in Andernach, where he died at the age of 91, where he found his final resting place.
