The Adalbertstraße is a street in the Maxvorstadt , the District 3 of the Bavarian state capital Munich . The road, which was already laid out in 1825, was named in 1829 after Prince Adalbert Wilhelm von Bayern (1828–1875), the fourth son of Ludwig I of Bavaria . Previously, Adalbertstraße was called last street , as it formed the northern end of Maxvorstadt.

course

Adalbertstrasse runs from Ludwigstrasse north of the main building of the Ludwig Maximilians University to the west to Tengstrasse. It crosses several streets of the geometrically designed urban expansion at a right angle. It leads past the Old North Cemetery , which was laid out between 1866 and 1869 . At its western end, Adalbertstrasse meets Tengstrasse, southeast of St. Joseph's Church , where it is continued by Josephstrasse.

Development

Adalbertstrasse 14, the only house in the original development

As a result of the damage during the Second World War and other changes, Adalbertstrasse today shows a heterogeneous development. Of the original two-story development, only house no. 14 from around 1827/30 has been preserved. The original development was replaced from the 1860s mainly by four-storey rental and commercial buildings in the neo-Renaissance style .
