Adam Stenelt

Adam Stenelt (also Steinelt or Steinvelt ) (* in the 16th century in Freiberg ; † after 1631) was a German sculptor in Osnabrück .

Life

Adam Stenelts father was Steiger in mining in Freiberg. His younger son Hans Stenelt was also born in Freiberg and joined the stonemason guild in Münster in 1611 . In 1623 he married Margareta zu Hülse.

Adam Stenelt had been in the service of Osnabrück Prince-Bishop Philipp Sigismund von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel since 1606 . Its last mention is from 1631.

Stenelt's works show a style in the transition between Renaissance and Baroque . They are stylistically related to the works of Gerhard Gröninger . The largest proportion of his works are large epitaphs made of sandstone .
