Adel Al-Saleh

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adel Al-Saleh (* 1963) is an American manager and has been a board member of Deutsche Telekom AG and CEO of T-Systems International GmbH since January 1, 2018 . He succeeded Reinhard Clemens , who had led the subsidiary since the end of 2007.

Life

Al-Saleh studied electrical engineering at Boston University ( B.Sc. 1987) and business administration at Florida Atlantic University ( MBA 1990). He then worked for 19 years in various management positions at IBM , most recently as Vice President and General Manager . In 2007, Al-Saleh switched to the IT provider IMS Health , where he was chairman for the regions Europe, Middle East, Africa and North America for four years. In December 2011 he became CEO of Northgate Information Solutions (NIS), a subsidiary of the holding company KKR . On the Board of Management of Deutsche Telekom AG, he has been responsible for the corporate customer division of the Bonn-based group and also CEO of T-Systems since January 2018.

Adel Al-Saleh is married with four children and lives in London .

controversy

Al-Saleh is to bring the Telekom subsidiary, which has been ailing for years, on a growth path, in particular through savings in administrative costs, locations and management levels. The plan is to cut or relocate around 10,000 jobs worldwide over a period of three years. Works council and trade union Ver.di feared that less profitable business areas could be bundled in a kind of " bad bank " and sold. In the meantime, a reconciliation of interests and a social plan has been negotiated with the employee representatives , which among other things provides for a reduction of 5,600 jobs in Germany by 2021. Operational layoffs should be avoided as far as possible and half of the costs saved should be invested in growth areas.
