Marion Stefanie Schick (née  Pilnei ; born September 5, 1958 in Schrobenhausen ) is a German economist, university professor and politician ( CDU ). From 2012 to 2014 she was Chief Human Resources Officer at Deutsche Telekom AG.

From February 24, 2010 to May 12, 2011 she was Minister for Culture, Youth and Sport for the State of Baden-Württemberg . Before that she was a member of the board of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft ; there she was responsible for the board area “Human Resources and Legal”.

Life and work

Schick did her Abitur in 1977 at the modern-language grammar school in Schrobenhausen. She then studied business education and in 1981 graduated from Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with a degree in trade teaching . From 1982 to 1983 she was a trainee teacher for vocational schools. Subsequently, until 1987, Schick worked as a research assistant at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich at the Chair of Vocational Education. In 1987 she was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD.

From 1987 to 1990, Schick worked as a personnel developer and manager trainer at ADAC and Allianz AG . Subsequently, she was head of the marketing department at Optische Werke Rodenstock until 1993.

In 1993 she was appointed professor for personnel management, cost accounting and general business administration at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich and in 1997 she was elected vice dean of the industrial engineering department. From 1999 to 2000 she was Vice President and from 2000 to 2008 President of the Munich University of Applied Sciences . From 2006 to 2008 she was also the chairwoman of the Presidents and Rectors' Conference of the Bavarian Universities of Applied Sciences (PRK Bayern).

She was the first woman in Bavaria to head a university. The reform course she was responsible for was awarded the title “best practice university 2002” by the Center for University Development. Among other things, she has published on topics relating to the study reform at German universities. In April 2008, Schick received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon . She is also the recipient of the Bavarian Constitutional Medal in silver.

Since October 2008, Schick was a board member of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft responsible for human resources and law.

In February 2010, Schick was appointed Minister for Culture, Youth and Sport to the state government of Baden-Württemberg ( Mappus cabinet ) by Stefan Mappus . The Upper Bavarian was independent until she joined the CDU (Stuttgart District Association) in March 2010. She is divorced and has two children.

Schick advocates that elementary school students learn to use digital technologies, e.g. B. the smartphone , learn. On this subject, she said: "Today's children grew up with smartphones, and they should learn to deal with these new media in a self-confident and self-determined manner."

When the Kretschmann government took office in May 2011, Schick resigned from office and in May 2012 succeeded Thomas Sattelberger in the Deutsche Telekom AG Group . After Claudia Nemat, she became the second woman on the board of the company, which in March 2010 had already set a quota of 30 percent women in management positions.

On April 11, 2014, Telekom announced that Schick was leaving Telekom for health reasons and by mutual agreement. However, her predecessor Thomas Sattelberger indicated that professional reasons could have played a role in the sudden end.
